Keene’s Tank Man?

Keene’s Tank Man?

Garrett Ean of FreeConcord.org has created a mashup of “Tank Man” with the Lenco BEARCAT armored attack truck. According to Wikipedia:

Tank Man, or the Unknown Rebel, is the nickname of an anonymous man who stood in front of a column of Chinese Type 59 tanks the morning after the Chinese military forcibly removed protestors from in and around Beijing‘sTiananmen Square on June 5, 1989. The man achieved widespread international recognition due to the videotape and photographs taken of the incident.

On Saturday, Talley.TV will be traveling back to Concord. This time to the Federal Building to cover the Anti-War protest by the Tilting at Windmills Crew who promise:

The Peaceful Assembly Choir Makes it’s Debut Performance at the State House

Sings Against Prohibition and tells State “Hands off Weeda Claus”

CONCORD, NH – On the 5th of November, about 40 Shire Activists answered Rich Paul’s call to “Remember, Remember Disobey in December” at the New Hampshire State House. This included the newly formed Peaceful Assembly Choir from Free Grafton. Members, including myself, sang from the holiday themed “Weeda Claus’s Chronic Christmas Carols” by Sam A. Robrin.

The choir hopes to release MP3s and go on tour during this holiday season. Stops may include the offices, homes and neighborhoods of the individuals waging the war on peaceful people over drugs. We hope to spread holiday cheer along with the message that the good people of the Shire will no longer tolerate the caging of their peaceful friends and neighbors because they’d prefer to smoke a plant rather than buy the much more harmful liquor from the State.

The choir and I need a lot of practice so we meet every Thursday at 7PM at the Peaceful Assembly Church. All are welcome and encouraged to join us. Even if you can’t make choir practice you are still welcome to join in on the caroling. As Russell Kanning would say, “it’s fun!”

Signs read from the 5th of November’s 420 Celebration included  ”Government is Organized Crime,” “End Prohibition Again,” “Caging Peaceful People is Wrong,” and “Shake Your Chains,” a reference to Rich Paul’s defiant statement to Keene District Court’s Judge Burke who asked what Paul thought about the amount of bail imposed for his victimless crime. “If You’re Happy and you Know it… Shake your Chains” was Paul’s response while shaking his shackles to a furious judge who then doubled the bail.

Stay tuned for Thursday’s Episode of Talley.TV to see and hear the choir’s debut and the rest of the celebration.

Grafton Gulch: A Peaceful Place

Last week I spent 26 hours learning masonry from Russell Kanning as part of the Hoyt Bros. Construction crew building Grafton Gulch. In addition to the actual building taking shape, it’s online presence is as well. You can now visit their new website and like them on Facebook. Here’s what agorist entrepreneur Mike Barsky has to say about his project:

Grafton Gulch will be a cross between a gallery and a consignment store. We’re going to sell products made by people we know. Each product will be exhibited as in an art gallery or a museum, with images and descriptions of how it was made, why you might want it, who the creator is, etc. In addition to products, we will help sell or advertise services provided by friends and neighbors. We will also sell our products and services in an online store, so our reach will be greater than Grafton and drive-through traffic. If you make a product or provide a service and would like to extend your customer-base, please contact us!

The Gulch will also be a private club. Members will have private access to high-speed internet access; a library of books, music, and movies; a lounge in which to play games, watch movies, have meetings, etc. The club’s functions will develop over time, as members decide what they want in a private club.

Grafton Gulch will be a proud participant of the Grafton Free Market.

Once the construction is complete I look forward to spending lots of time working and playing at the Gulch’s Club area. I’ll also take pride in the fact that I helped build this peaceful place.

U.S. Out of New Hampshire

Anton Lee took this great photo of Russell Kanning and posted the following at NH Underground:

the federal security guard seemed confused when he said “I’m going to have to ask you to stop drawing, most of what you guys do I can’t do anything about but this will not make them happy.”  and I continued on with my ‘drawing’.  Kat then walked in front of him and continued to draw.

the cop said we had to stop writing.  Then he yelled at Kat “HELLO!” when she disobeyed him.  The cop kept looking at me as if I wasn’t involved.  I had chalk on my hands, and was taking pictures of him.  I’m not sure why he thought I wasn’t involved.  He asked out loud while looking at me “anyone want to tell me what’s going on?”  I smiled and said nothing.

In the end, after a big huddle and a supervisor making a phone call they told us that they were called out because they thought someone had ‘spray paint’… last I checked you don’t draw with spray paint, you paint with spray paint.  Besides, I’ve never seen a spray paint can that disintegrates in your hand as you rub it on granite.

The maintenence man was taking video.  That is until he saw me coming with my camera.  All talk, no balls.

They reminded us to not cross the street without being in a crosswalk.  I think he might have thought we were too stupid to look both ways.  I told him to have a nice day and he thanked me.  Kira then crossed the street outside of the crosswalk.  She was unharmed.

The Bay Area Voluntaryist Resource Group

This photo of my Bay Area Voluntaryist friends made me smile. For several months after the Motorhome Diaries concluded in San Francisco and before I traveled to New Hampshire with the Liberty Caravan I lived in the Bay Area. There I met new voluntarists allies and friends at monthly meetings and other outings.

It’s great to see Teresa and Alex doing outreach, especially when it’s behind a sweet looking new banner designed by Garland of Eclectic Circle.

Wikipedia has a good overview on voluntarism which, like anarcho-capitalism, is frequently associated with the colors gold and black. The orange likely represents mutualism and the red, anarcho-syndicalism. The color of the banner looks like sea-green, a color used by the Levellers.

State v. Bob Constantine Update

This is a screenshot from the video I took at “Solar” Bob Constantine’s appearance at the Grafton County Superior Court today. Bob was ordered to attend this hearing where the Judge demanded to know who would be representing him at trial. Since Bob would either be looking for new counsel or representing himself the Judge delayed the trial until a day in December, TBD. Otherwise the State v. Bob Constantine would have taken place on Monday.

The macbook belongs to me and Bob seemed to enjoy my stickers. Too bad the “No Victim No Crime” sticker I have won’t fit on my computer.

Chris Case: “Legalize Freedom”

If your heart doesn’t break while watching Chris Case talk about being denied medical marijuana to treat the side-effects of his battle against cancer, you should work for the government.

Anton Lee, the talented photographer behind Shire Photography, captured this image of my interview with Chris Case (Here at 1:40).

Flier for today’s “Redress of Grievances” – 4:20 Protest @ State Liquor Store.

As the fliers point out, the event was not about encouraging people to smoke pot since that’s a decision best left to the individual. Activists were encouraging the State of New Hampshire to let peaceful pot smokers out of their cages. The flier listed 5 lies people are told about marijuana:

1.   Marijuana is a “gateway” drug; it leads to harder drugs most marijuana users never use other illegal drugs.Marijuana tends to substitute for the much more dangerous hard drugs like alcohol, cocaine, and heroin.

2. If pot is legal, Mexican drug cartels will murder your loved ones these cartels only exsist because the government has made selling drugs a lucrative black market activity. No drug war, no drug cartels. Speaking of cartels – a formal organization of producers & manufacturers that agree to fix prices, marketing, and production – isn’t that what the state liquor store is?

3. Marijuana IS Worse than Alcohol Marijuana is far less toxic and less addictive than alcohol. Long-term marijuana use is far less damaging than long-term alcohol use. Alcohol use contributes to aggressive behavior and acts of violence, whereas marijuana use reduces the likelihood of violent behavior.Alcohol use is highly associated with violent crime; marijuana is not. Alcohol use contributes to the likelihood of domestic violence and sexual assault;  marijuana  does not. Alcohol use is prevalent in cases of sexual assault and date rape; marijuana use is not.Alcohol use contributes to reckless behavior and serious injuries, and it is highly associated with emergency room visits;  marijuana does not and is seldomly associated with emergency room visits.

4. Marijauana is deadly. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately 20,000 Americans die every year as the direct result of alcohol consumption. The number for marijuana is zero. Tthe two most deadly drugs in America are legal: Alcohol and tobacco.

5. This is a free country. Not  when it cages peaceful people for a so-called “crime” that has  no victim.
